Tenth Announcement of Opportunity to join the Athena Community

The Athena Community currently consists of more than 1000 researchers from around the world participating in a structure of overall Working Groups (WG) and Topical Panels (TP) under them. Full information about the structure and membership of the WG/TPs can be found here. 

The expertise and support of the Athena Community in the NewAthena reformulation phase continues being of paramount importance. In order to offer new opportunities to join the Athena Community, a new call to serve in the Science WG (SWG1, 2, 3) and their corresponding TPs is issued. The Telescope Working Group (TWG4) and the Mission Performance Working Group (MWG) are not offered on this call. Applications are open to all researchers with appropriate background and a strong interest in scientific matters related to the Athena mission, especially to early career researchers. We strongly encourage women to apply for membership too. 

Candidates fulfilling the above requirements and willing to join the Athena Community are invited to fill this form (only one per applicant). Applications will be internally assessed by the Athena Community Office, with help from the WG/TP chairs. 

We expect interested scientists to apply for membership in one single panel. The membership of two scientific panels may be considered, if a specific justification is provided.

The deadline for applications is 24th March 2023, 14:00 CET. The expectation is that appointments to successful applicants will be issued shortly afterwards.
