Athena X-ray Advances: ASST & ACO Science Webinars
The next webinar of the “Athena X-ray Advances: ASST & ACO Science Webinars” will take place on the 28th of April at 15 CEST. Melanie Habouzit will give the webinar entitled: The AGN population across cosmic time with Athena.
Abstract: Athena will significantly increase the sensitivity of current X-ray facilities and will provide us with an unprecedented view of AGN across cosmic time. Large-scale cosmological hydrodynamical simulations are becoming indispensable to face the challenge of understanding the cosmic evolution of massive black holes and their host galaxies. In the webinar, I will present predictions on the AGN population and their galaxies from these simulations (Illustris, TNGs, Horizon-AGN, EAGLE, SIMBA). In particular, I will show that the population of AGN to be discovered by Athena from low to high redshifts differs from one simulation to another. This is very exciting as the X-ray surveys of Athena could thus provide us with a crucial pathway to disentangle these simulations and their modeling.
