The SKA-Athena Synergy exercise culminates with the publication of the White Paper, encompassing many topics in which joint studies with both outstanding facilities will reach much further than working singly.
These topics include (among others) investigating the role of black-hole feedback in galaxy clusters and determining the nature of non-thermal phenomena in those structures, revealing and illuminating the Cosmic Web of baryons (the Hot Universe), understanding the early Universe, unveiling the growth of supermassive black holes over cosmic time, combining multiple probes of accretion and outflow physics in compact objects (the Energetic Universe) and pushing forward our understanding of the life cycles of stars in our Galaxy (Observatory science).
