Caption: Effective area of the Athena/X-IFU compared to one of the XRISM Resolve instruments, both being imaging spectrometers. The effective area of three dispersive spectrometers are also shown (contours in dashed lines): two currently in operation, namely XMM-Newton RGS and Chandra HETG, and Arcur proposed to NASA as a MIDEX and completing currently its Phase A concept study.
Additional comments: X-IFU offers imaging capability with a pixel size of less than 5" to be compared with the 1' pixel size of the XRISM Resolve instrument.
