We address the plausibility of realistically differentiating various driving mechanisms of AGN UFOs with a focus on magnetic origin. In the context of the self-similar MHD UFO model, we show that absorption lines from UFOs should be characterized “on average” by an extended blue tail of unique asymmetry due to the underlying kinematics and absorption measure distribution of absorbers. By performing a 10ks Athena/X-IFU simulation aimed primarily for the canonical Seyfert 1 AGN UFOs (e.g. NGC 3783/4151), we demonstrate that such a tell-tale spectral sign can be resolved, for the first time, via microcalorimeter spectroscopy like Athena/X-IFU as a smoking gun for magnetic-driving if indeed present.
